Can restoring the water cycle cool land and climate? Scientific basis and property-scale assessment using the EcoDynamics Diagnostic Engine

A review of the science behind water-cycle cooling, with a property-scale method built into the EcoDynamics Diagnostic Engine. It weighs the evidence for local evaporative cooling and land-atmosphere moisture recycling, and reports two indicators, an evaporative cooling score and a local cooling contribution band, tested on a case-study property in South West England.

The EcoDynamics Diagnostic Engine: A Satellite- and GIS-based Method for Assessing and Diagnosing Ecosystem Condition

A systems-based method for measuring the ecological condition of land from satellite and GIS data, with no site visit and at low cost. It extends the peer-reviewed, field-based Ecological Health Index into a weekly time series back to 2018, reports each year's peak as a Land Health Score from 1 to 9, diagnoses the limiting ecosystem process, and organises the result for nature-disclosure frameworks such as TNFD and ESRS.

Farming Smarter: The case for agroecological enterprise

A report for the Food, Farming and Countryside Commission, written with the economist Tony Greenham, making the economic case for agroecological enterprise: that farming with nature rather than against it can be at once more ecological and more profitable. Beneath the headline it audits the hidden costs of industrial agriculture and the financial fragility under UK farming's apparent strength, reframes the measure of success from gross yield to value added, names the lock-ins that hold the old model in place, and sets out what a transition would need.
